Layflat Tubing
Clear polythene layflat tubing, or polythene tubing on rolls is especially useful for cutting to your desired length when you need to wrap long thin objects for which ‘off-the-shelf’ polythene bags are not available. Layflat tube (sometimes referred to as plastic sleeve or poly tubing) is available in a wide range of sizes from 1inch (25mm) in some gauges, up to 48inches (1200mm). Layflay tubing also come in 4 standard guages, or thicknesses. 120 gauge (30 micron) is suitable for lightweight applications where the poly tube won't be bearing any weight, or is just being used to keep a product clean. 250 gauge (62.5 micron) poly tubing is a good general purpose thickness for non-industrial use. 500 gauge layflat tubing is used for most industrial applications or where fairly heavy weight bearing or protection is required. 1000 gauge (250 micron) poly tubing is very heavy, and only required for the most demanding applications.

Poly tube roll lengths shown on this page are for roll sizes up to 24inches (600mm), which are manufactured to weigh approximately 1Kg per inch of roll width. Above 24inches all poly tubing rolls are capped at approximately 25Kg and the approimate roll lengths can be calculated as follows:
120 gauge - 688 metres divided by roll width in inches, multiplied by 25
250 gauge - 330 metres divided by roll width in inches, multiplied by 25
500 gauge - 165 metres divided by roll width in inches, multiplied by 25
1000 gauge - 82 metres divided by roll width in inches, multiplied by 25

Bag sealers/Impulse Heat sealer For a really professional job we also supply a bag sealer which will enable you to make your own bags and sealed sleeves. Bag sealers, sometimes known as impulse heat sealers typically use a short pulse of electric current to heat a thin element wire sufficiently to weld 2 layers of polythene together in order to form a seal.
